If you have not tried cendol before, cendol is a dessert where thin grub-like green flour is added with redbean and topped with shaved ice and coconut milk.

Nyonya cuisine derives from the cooking of the Nyonya women. The interracial marriages between the Chinese and Malay encourage by the Portugese, has resulted in Baba men and Nyonya women. The cuisine is usually a combination of Chinese ingredients and Malay herbs. The Nyonya cuisine has eventually became one of the favorite among locals. Go try it yourself and you’ll love it in no time.
Chinese Rstaurants
Besides the famous chicken rice ball that looks like a golf ball, there’s also other Chinese cuisine that you’ll fall for. There’s a shop selling special wantan mee in the Kedai Makanan & Minuman Wantan Mee. What’s so special about it when most of the wantan mee looks almost the same? Usually, the wantan mee comes with a pickled sliced chili but this wantan mee comes with their vinegarish chili sauce on top of the noodle. Try for yourself and decide whether it is special to you or not.

After the colonization ended, there’s a slight after effect left by the Portugese as you can see Portugese food is popular among the locals here and so does the architecture. They are all influenced by the Portugese. There’s also the Japanese restaurant if you fancy Japanese healthy food. But nothing beats the environment of classic Melaka.
